Multi-source Currency Converter
Convert between currencies using a median consensus rate from up to five independent sources — Frankfurter (ECB), ExchangeRate-API, currency-api, VATcomply, and FloatRates — with the contributing feeds and their values shown below the result.

How this currency works
Most free currency converters quote a single source's rate, which can lag or briefly disagree with the market by a noticeable margin. This one aggregates five independent, live feeds — Frankfurter (European Central Bank reference rates), ExchangeRate-API, currency-api, VATcomply, and FloatRates — and uses the median rate across whichever feeds respond successfully, so one feed being slow, down, or stale doesn't skew the result.
Each conversion shows exactly which feeds contributed, so the rate isn't a black box: a small dot next to each source name shows whether it was used for that specific calculation. Rates are fetched fresh from this site's own backend (not the browser calling five different external services directly), cached briefly, and refreshed automatically the next time you change currencies.
A feed is dropped from the median (and marked accordingly) if it fails outright or if its own reported date is more than a few days old — a feed being technically reachable but serving stale data is treated the same as it being down, rather than letting an outdated number quietly pull the median off.
Methodology and sources
Last reviewed:
The currency converter requests rates from the backend, which aggregates multiple exchange-rate feeds and uses the median successful rate for the selected currency pair. A median reduces the impact of one stale or outlier feed.
The page displays which feeds contributed to the current conversion. Failed or stale feeds are excluded from the median instead of silently affecting the displayed rate.
Assumptions
- Rates are indicative mid-market-style reference values and may differ from bank, card, or money-transfer rates.
- Provider fees, spreads, weekend handling, and execution timing are not included.
- Exchange rates can move quickly; this is not suitable for trading or payment execution decisions.
Sources
Currency results are indicative only. The rate available from a bank, broker, card provider, or transfer service may include fees and spreads.

Frequently asked questions
Why does this use five sources instead of just one?
A single feed can be briefly wrong, stale, or unavailable. Taking the median across several independent, live sources means one outlier or outage doesn't change the result you see — you can also see exactly which sources succeeded for your specific conversion.
How often are the rates updated?
Rates are cached for 10 minutes at a time and refreshed automatically after that, or whenever you switch to a currency pair that hasn't been fetched recently.
Is this suitable for sending money or trading?
No — this gives an indicative mid-market-style rate for everyday reference. Banks and money transfer services add their own margin on top of the market rate, so the amount you actually receive or pay will differ from this estimate.
